Karma and Pininfarina are teaming nearly make (hopefully) beautiful planet

California-based luxury EV-maker Karma Automotive is partnering with Italian design house Pininfarina. The experienced businesses announced the collaboration for the Automotive News World Congress in Detroit, and now we expect their bond to yield a beautiful luxury electric vehicle in fairly short order.

According to Karma CEO Dr. Lance Zhou, this is certainly part of a broader way of Karma which will trust in partnerships with established enterprises to be able to rapidly bring product to showcase. “Our business and product plan’s driven partially by collaborating with like-minded and nimble partners just like Pininfarina whose design expertise will help us accelerate product development, differentiation and personalized customization enabling every Karma to remain truly special,” Zhou said.

Currently, Karma’s only offering would be the Revero. The Revero can be a direct descendent on the Fisker Karma, that is put together by Henrik Fisker. The Battista will probably be an ultra-luxe electric hypercar; presumably the passenger truck it designs with Karma will target a slightly different corner on the market.

If all of this all seems very puzzling, worry not; even we have now trouble monitoring most of the EV startups that have already materialized (and dematerialized) over the last couple of years, sometimes without ever actually managing to offer a vehicle. In this sense, this feels a little like the initial times of the automotive industry, which saw no shortage of competing interests, upstart companies, intriguing partnerships … and several vehicular vaporware.

Now, as then, only a few enterprises will survive and thrive. Will Karma, with the aid of Pininfarina, be one? Time will tell. Karma says don’t be surprised to view the “first response to the revolutionary partnership” — which we presume pretty safe in assuming shall be a car, or in the vey least an idea — inside the second quarter of 2019.
